Ken Rosenthal reports that Bryce Harper’s suspension has been reduced from four games to three games as a result of his appeal. He’ll begin serving it tonight.
Harper was given a four-game suspension on Tuesday for charging the mound and throwing his helmet at Giants reliever Hunter Strickland on Monday. Strickland, who intentionally hit Harper with a pitch, was given a six-game suspension and is still waiting to hear back on his appeal.
Our view of the suspensions can be read here. Short version: not a wise bit of justice meted out by MLB, but at least Harper’s has been reduced a bit.
