Summer movie preview: 13 more must-see films

Things start heating up on the Hollywood calendar soon, so here are 13 must-see films to watch between May and August.

Alice (Mia Wasikowska) returns to the whimsical world of Underland to save her friend in Disney's "Alice Through the Looking Glass."

The Angry Birds Movie (May 20): The constantly perturbed bird Red (voiced by Jason Sudeikis) rallies a flock of friends to find out what's up when pesky pigs start showing up on their island.

Alice Through the Looking Glass (May 27): Alice (Mia Wasikowska) returns to Wonderland and goes back in time to save her old pal, the Mad Hatter (Johnny Depp), from Time himself (Sacha Baron Cohen).

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows (June 3): The sequel tosses vigilante Casey Jones (Stephen Amell) into the mix as the four main heroes in a half-shell are forced to save New York City from a new and very dangerous threat.

Now You See Me 2 (June 10): The Robin Hood-esque magical troupe the Four Horsemen (Woody Harrelson, Jesse Eisenberg, Dave Franco and Lizzy Caplan) are up to old tricks when they're forced into a heist by a young tech magnate (Daniel Radcliffe).

Jeff Goldblum and Bill Pullman are back — and so are the aliens — in the sequel "Independence Day: Resurgence."

Central Intelligence (June 17): Two high school classmates — a CIA agent (Dwayne Johnson) and an accountant (Kevin Hart) — find themselves on a top-secret mission to save the world and keep spy satellites from getting in the wrong hands.

Free State of Jones (June 24): A Mississippi farmer (Matthew McConaughey) and local slaves during the Civil War take up arms in a rebellion against the Confederacy.

Independence Day: Resurgence (June 24): Twenty years after mankind fought off a hellacious alien invasion, the extraterrestrials return with a bigger fleet to test heroes both old (Jeff Goldblum and Bill Pullman) and new (Liam Hemsworth and Maika Monroe).

The Legend of Tarzan (July 1): After finding a place for himself in Victorian London, the lord of the jungle (Alexander Skarsgård) returns to his African childhood home when it's threatened by a Belgian antagonist (Christoph Waltz).

The Secret Life of Pets (July 8): An animated look into the animal world of a Manhattan apartment building, including what happens when a dog named Max (Louis C.K.) has his life disrupted by the arrival of new mutt Duke (Eric Stonestreet).

The Infiltrator (July 15): A federal agent (Bryan Cranston) goes undercover to infiltrate drug cartels and Pablo Escobar's notorious money-laundering organization.

Jason Bourne (July 29): Matt Damon's superspy reappears on the world's intelligence scene with many of his memories returned as well.

Pete’s Dragon (Aug. 12): A forest ranger (Bryce Dallas Howard) is determined to find out the truth when she meets a young orphan (Oakes Fegley) who claims to have a dragon as his best friend and guardian.

Kubo and the Two Strings (Aug. 19): The stop-motion animated fantasy focuses on a young Japanese boy (voiced by Art Parkinson) who has to find a magical suit of armor worn by his samurai father to save his village.
