Diggy's Adventure Energy & Underground Camp

Two things: I keep running out of energy . I make food, but not enough to keep playing for very long. 2. When I try to build my underground camp my stuff disappears or my only option is to hit the X and my stuff disappears and I to go back to camp? Not sure what I’m doing wrong.... please advise. Thank you.
